Ophthalmologic
Features
The most common eye complication in SWS is glaucoma. 30 to 70 % of patients with SWS will develop glaucoma and many of these will do so in early infancy. An additional peak for the development of glaucoma in SWS is found in adulthood. In infancy, glaucoma can present with eye enlargement and vision loss. Vision loss secondary to glaucoma can occur at anytime, however. Treatment of glaucoma from SWS often requires surgery on the eye.
