A general medical and neurologic evaluation are provided for patients with SWS through the Department of Neurology, including an evaluation of seizures, headaches, stroke-like episodes and developmental delays. The results of testing, including neuroimaging and EEGs, are interpreted and recommendations made regarding diagnosis and available treatment.
SWS patients with significant seizures are seen by an epilepsy expert to provide recommendations for the medical and surigcal options available. The Johns Hopkins Pediatric Epilepsy Center provides presurgical evaluations and a range of surgical interventions.
