is an immune disorder that is characterized by:
  • MULTIFOCALITY - Focal weakness in many areas such as wrist drop, grip weakness, impaired dexterity, or foot drop.
  • MOTOR - Although nerves are composed of motor and sensory fibers, only motor fibers are affected in MMN. Patients therefore only complain of weakness but no sensory symptoms or signs (tingling, pain or numbness. Cramps or muscle twitching (fasciculations) may be present.
  • NEUROPATHY - Weakness is a result of a block in conduction along the nerve with radial, common peroneal, median, or ulnar nerves frequently being affected.
