GROUP The CN fellow is involved in the evaluation and management of neuromuscular disorders. Training is provided in the following procedures: motor and sensory nerve conduction studies, diagnostic electromyography, single-fiber electromyography, electrodiagnostic movement disorder assessment, and testing of motor and sensory reflexes and the autonomic functions. Optional opportunity is given to train in evoked potential studies, intraoperative monitoring, and polysomnography procedures. Additionally, the CN fellow has opportunity to learn nerve and muscle histopathology and takes part in ongoing clinical research projects including clinical trials and electrophysiology-related research questions. |
EEG
GROUP The CN fellow is involved in the clinical evaluation and management of seizure disorders. Extensive training is provided in electroencephalography and review of EEG and video records of patients admitted to the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. Facilities include a four bed microprocessor based EEG/video monitoring unit, linked to an active epilepsy surgery program, a 2000 record per year EEG laboratory and outpatient adult and pediatric epilepsy clinics. Optional opportunity is given to train in evoked potential studies, intraoperative monitoring, and polysomnography procedures. Members of the Center participate in a variety of ongoing research studies, including studies in cognitive neuropsychology, the neurophysiology of the central nervous system and clinical trials. |
