   Yong-di Zhou, PhD
Dr. Yong-Di Zhou is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He joined this department in 2001. His research activities focus on the mechanisms of tactile perception and short-term memory, particularly, the functional role of somatosensory cortex in tactile memory.

Dr. Zhou is currently investigating:

1. The role of somatosensory cortex in perception and short-term retention of non-tactile signals associated with tactile features (the cross-modal tactile perception and short-term memory).

2. The functional relationship between prefrontal cortex and somatosensory cortex in tactile short-term memory (the "top-down" influence from prefrontal cortex on cortical cross-modal association and tactile memory).
