"Systemic Iron Metabolism Restless Legs Syndrome"
HBV03-08-28-01
Summary The purpose of this study is to look at how iron is absorbed after taking an oral dose of iron and how well it stays within your red blood cells. We are looking at how iron is metabolized in a disorder called Restless Legs Syndrome. There is clinical information that suggests that some patients with Restless Legs Syndrome have problems with either absorbing iron or maintaining the iron in the body. About 32 subjects will take part. People with the diagnosis of Restless Legs Syndrome and those who do not have RLS may join.
Length The study duration will be 3 months with a total of 5 visits ( screening visit, baseline and the 2, 6 and 10 week time points).
Compensation For your participation in this study, we will be paying you $50 for the baseline visit, $20 for each subsequent visit, for a total of $310 if all visits are completed. If you withdraw before the study is completed, you will be compensated for your participation up to that time.
Inclusion Criteria
- Over the age of 30 year old
- Primary RLS diagnosis and age, gender matched controls without RLS.
