Several pathways are available before beginning Pediatric Neurology training at Johns Hopkins. The candidate may complete two or three years of residency in an accredited Pediatric program,
or,
one post-graduate year in Pediatrics and one post-graduate year in Internal Medicine,
or,
one post-graduate year in Pediatrics and a second post-graduate year of basic neuroscience research. The acceptability of the pre-requisite neuroscience research year is determined by the Director of Pediatric Neurology.

The core training in Pediatric Neurology is a total of three years. The division of training is approximately 12 months in clinical Pediatric Neurology, 12 months in clinical Adult Neurology, and 12 months in clinical subspecialties and electives.
